| HIST | of Manning, South Carolina F. SCOTT EPPERSON MANNING - Francis Scott "Scotty" Epperson, 53, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at Lake Marion Nursing Facility in Summerton. Born Dec. 5, 1956, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Joseph Norwood "Buck" and Eunice Jackson Epperson. He was salutatorian of his senior class of 1974 at Manning High School; attended the University of South Carolina; was a member of The Presbyterian Church at Manning; was a substitute teacher; and a volunteer at Manning First Baptist Church Friendship House. Surviving are his three brothers, Michael Norwood Epperson and wife, Doris, of Bishopville, Hugh Wayne Epperson and wife, Patsy, of Manning and Dr. William Jackson Epperson of Murrells Inlet; a sister, Mary Anna Epperson Bilton and her husband, Kenny, of Manning; nine nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Dr. William J. Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery. Nephews, Michael N. Epperson Jr., Rich Gomez, David W. Epperson, Ryan Way, Billy Blevins, Shawn Bilton and Joey Epperson, will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Stephens Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service on Sunday and at other times at the residence of Wayne and Patsy Epperson, Buckhorn II, 1044 Nicole Drive, Manning.
