Posted Thursday, March 16, 2023 6:00 am DALZELL - Perry Benenhaley Sr., 80, husband of Colleen Rainwater Benenhaley, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home. Born on Sept. 29, 1942, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Heyward Nathaniel Benenhaley and Stella Miller Benenhaley. He attended Springbank Baptist Church and retired from Gold Kist. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his wife of 58 years; two children, Cindy Payseur (Kevin) of Belmont, North Carolina, and Perry Benenhaley Jr. (Ellie) of Sumter; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Randy Benenhaley of Sumter; and three sisters, Janie Wallace (Robert) of Lexington, Sybil Gibbs (Robert) of Sumter and Cherie Mitchum (Mike) of Sumter. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Reynolds; a brother, Wayne Benenhaley; and a sister, Geraldine Kauses. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements. PERRY BENENHALEY SR.
