BAKER Posted Thursday, January 11, 2018 2:00 am Myrtle Hodge Baker, 84, widow of Toby Oxendine Sr., died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at a local nursing facility. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Cody Edward Hodge and Alice Lorraine Thornhill Hodge. Mrs. Baker was a member of Promiseland Ministries Church. She worked for Pioneer Manufacturing and later retired from Glen Manufacturing. She enjoyed volunteering as a musician and leading prayer ministries at local nursing facilities. She was a people person and loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include three children, Roger H. Baker (Linda) and Tammy Collins (Fred), both of Sumter, and Robin Rollins (Jeff) of Chesterfield; two stepchildren, Toby Oxendine Jr. (Joan) of Sumter and Linda Kay Marsh (Derek) of Hemingway; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Pinedale Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Turbeville with the Rev. James McElveen and the Rev. Kevin Cribb officiating. Pallbearers will be Christopher Freeman, Mikey Freeman, Cody Collins, Devin Collins, Toby Oxendine Jr. and Kenny Fender. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, 16 Vernon Drive, Sumter. Memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice of SC, 198 Wesmark Blvd., Suite 2, Sumter, SC 29150 or the Alzheimer's Association Palmetto Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Anderson, SC 29621.
