Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ernest A. and Nora Ardis Avins. Mrs. Geddings was a faithful member of Sumter First Church of the Nazarene for more than 51 years, serving in various capacities. She was a retired executive secretary for Demosthenes McCreight & Riley, AIA architects for more than 45 years. Surviving are two sons, Billy R. Geddings (Ellen) of Sumter and Chipper Geddings (Sheila) of Roebuck; one daughter, Sherry G. Elliott (Larry) of Sumter; three brothers, Richard L. Avins, Ernest A. Avins and Jim Avins, all of Sumter; three sisters, Marie A. Griffin and Tessie A. Geddings, both of Sumter, and Denise A. Mortimer of Crown Point, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Geddings; a sister, Jeannie A. Gables; and a grandson, Eric Benjamin Geddings. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Greg Pressley and the Rev. Jim Thrower officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
