TOUCHBERRY SUMMERTON – Rosa Mildred Chewning Touchberry, 94, widow of Elmore Marion "Jelly" Touchberry, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2008, in Lawrenceville, Ga. Born Sept. 30, 1913, in Summerton, she was the daughter of the late Allan Gordon Chewning and the late Mary Elizabeth Eadon Chewning. She was a member of Summerton Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are four daughters, Marian T. Smith of Duluth, Ga., Mitzie Rothermel of Greenville, Nancy Gilmour of Columbus, Ohio, and Donna Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Anne C. Bradham of Sumter; a sister-in-law, Janet T. Trembley of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Mary Blacker, Margaret Middleton, and Sherrie Peterson of Duluth, Ga., Kevin Rothermel of Greer, Brian Gilmour of Columbus, Ohio, Craig Gilmour of Charlotte, N.C., and Chad Roberts of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ross Marion Roberts. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, in Summerton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rob Pierce officiating. Inurnment will follow in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Friday at Summerton Baptist Church.
