| HIST | of Marion Distict, South Carolina Good morning, Jackie. It was a pleasure meeting and talking with you this weekend. Thanks for sharing with me your Hutchinson family questions. I hope I have the information you are looking for. I have in my records the 1850 Marion District census, page 34, dwelling 509, family 512, Mary A. Hutchison. She was a widow. In the home with her were: Evaline, age 19; Elizabeth, age 18; John, age 17; Martha, 15; William, 13; David, 11; Robert, age 3. In 1840, the only Hutchison(s)/Hutchinson(s) in Marion besides Lewis was Aaron, his father, shown in a separate household at 80-89 years of age. In 1840, Lewis' household appeared as follows: 3 males less than 5 (John, who would have been 7; William, who would have been 3; David, who would have been 1). 1 female less than 5 (Martha at age 4 or 5). 2 females 5 to 9: (Evaline, age 9; Elizabeth, age 8). Lewis died between 1847 and 1850, as Robert was age 3 in 1850. As you know from my book, David and William died in the War. Mary Ann, their mother, was living with their brother, her son, John, who survived the War, and his wife Mary Jane in 1870 Marion Co., page 215. I also have some seemingly reputable family trees that indicate Lewis was the husband of Mary Ann Hatchel/Hatchell and the father of the above children. The family was not found in 1860, other than John who had married and had 2 children in Marion District. I hope this helps. Please let me know of any questions or comments.
