McLEOD James Thomas McLeod, 76, beloved husband of 52 years to Laverne E. McLeod, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Lewis I. McLeod and the late Mae Geddings McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Sumter Electrical and Rewinding. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two stepsons, Andrew E. Evans and Thomas W. Evans; two stepdaughters, Edna E. Stallard and Doris E. Witzell; a special sister-in-law, Oree McLeod; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Almeta McLeod, Gladys M. Alsbrooks, Lottie Mae Richardson, Gernell M. McIntosh, Floreed M. Brewer and Pearl M. Williams; and two brothers, Matthew and Clyde McLeod. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Bethel Baptist Church, Edward Davis and Alfred Alsbrooks. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
