Greene Anne Gregorie Greene, 88, widow of Dr. Wilson Greene, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 30, 1923, in Charleston County, she was a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Esther Royall Gregorie. Mrs. Greene was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Wilson Greene III and wife, Pat, of Edenton, N.C., Anne Greene Bivens and husband, Alton, of Columbia and Becky Greene Lee and husband, Dick, of Sumter; two sisters, Sarah Gregorie Miller and Elizabeth Palmer Gregorie, both of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Sarah Barrett, Becca Thome, Anne Pressman, Greg Coe, Charles Coe, Kelly Greene, Lauren Greene, Kaitlyn Greene and Wilson Greene IV; three step-grandchildren, Tricia Agan, Elizabeth Shealy and Mary Loring Pait; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas Barrett, Jacob Barrett, and Anna Thome. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter with the Rev. Dr. John Barr and the Rev. Marcus Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Nephews, Dr. Wilson Greene McWilliams, Dr. William Reese McWilliams Jr., Robert Hall McWilliams, Charles Edward Miller Jr., Ferdinand Gregorie IV, William Gaillard Gregorie and Phillip Porcher Gregorie, will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hugh Stoddard, Dr. Phil Brandt, Dr. M.E. Blanchard and the Rev. Manney Reid. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 1805 Loring Mill Road.
