| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina JAMES DWIGHT LEWIS Posted Saturday, November 20, 2021 6:00 am James Dwight Lewis, 68, husband of Peggy Atkinson Lewis, died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born on June 6, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late William Morgan Lewis Sr. and Marjorie Loye Strange Lewis. He retired from Sumter Machinery. He loved to hunt and fish. Survivors include his wife; children, Joshua Lewis, Sherry Walker (Mike), James Lawrence (Kristen) and Brady Lambert (Lasonja); grandchildren, Michael Rivers (Aubrey), Candace Peterson (Hunter), Aaron Walker, Lorena Alvarez, Logan Lawrence, Tyler Anderson, William Lawrence, Eleanor Lawrence, Geno Anaya, Jimmy Shumaker, Grace Tibor, Jo Tibor, Claire Tibor, Kenota Lambert (Sara), Brandon Lambert (Dextevia), Cody Lambert and Shania Ramsey (Andreus); 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, the Rev. Billy M. Lewis (Dianne), Brenda Lewis Osteen, the Rev. Steven K. Lewis (Linda) and Gary A. Lewis (Renee); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher Lewis. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sherry and Mike Walker, 733 Reynolds Road, Sumter, SC 29150. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
