Born Jan. 2, 1937, in Pelham, N.C., he was a son of the late Steve Younger Eanes and Margaret Pearl Hazelwood Eanes. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Manning; three daughters, Penny Pigford (Edward) and Teresa Watters (Jimmy), both of Wilmington, N.C., and Missy Eanes of Charlotte, N.C.; three sons, Mark Eanes (Mary) of Stanton, Mich., Mitch Eanes of Woodbridge, Va., and Mike Eanes (Jennifer) of Panama Beach, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Epps of Hartsville; a stepson, Delmer Igo of Harrisonburg, Va.; three sisters, Jennie Joyce and Evelyn Rierson (Ken), both of Summerfield, N.C., and Patricia Thomas (Don) of Peshastin, Wash.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Merle Smith Eanes; a brother, Hansel Wayne Eanes; and a sister, Christine Grindstaff. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Drew Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rubin Hardy, R.J. McCoon, Ben Brewer, Neil Beard, Grant Hughes and Dr. Dorwin Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Jordan, Arnold Singleton, Ed Strack, Dewitt Geddings and Steve McCabe. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1990 Old Georgetown Road, Manning. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1794 Old Georgetown Road, Manning 29102 or to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 114 Capital Way, Manning, SC 29102.
