Saunders. He was a member of Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church, attended Thomas Sumter Academy and graduated from Clarkston High School, Decatur, Ga. He enjoyed sports and racing. He spent many years surveying with Harpers Surveyors Inc. and worked with Life Insurance Co. of Georgia for 16 years. Survivors include his parents of Sumter; a son, Hyatt Hendrix Saunders Jr. of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a former wife, Jackie Saunders Doyle of Stone Mountain; two brothers, Carl “Frasier” Saunders III (Vickie) of Sumter and Garrett Blair Saunders (Barbara) of Maysville, Ga.; a niece, Mary “Mollie” LeNoir Saunders of Charleston; nephews, Carl F. Saunders IV of Chicago, Sean Dylan Saunders and Brett Mitchell Saunders, both of Maysville; uncles, Freddie Saunders (Rosanne) of Florence and Jimmy Saunders (Jane) of Sumter; and cousin, Sandra Brunson French (Barry) of St. Augustine, Fla. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Martha G. and Carl F. Saunders Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Myrtis Jane and Henry Hyatt Brunson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Watson and the Rev. Karen Starr officiating. Burial will be in Brunson Cemetery, Plowden Mill Road. The family will receive friends at the home, 31 Adams Ave., Sumter. Memorials may be made to Brunson Cemetery, c/o Patsy Watt, 200McInnis Store Road, Sumter, SC 29153 or to Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church, 1510 Plowden Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
