Hudson Sr. of Sumter celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2018, with their three children and their spouses: Pat and Tony Buddin of Sumter, Roy B. Jr. and Michele Hudson of Blairwood, and Candace Hudson of Sumter. The couple has 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hudson is the former Barbara Galloway of Sumter. ROY B. HUDSON Posted Saturday, February 29, 2020 6:00 am Roy B. Hudson, 81, husband of Barbara Galloway Hudson, died on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Sept. 28, 1938, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Neil Benjamin and Ernestine McLeod Hudson. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Hudson owned and operated Roy's Supermarket for 35 years and was employed at Carnivore Butcher and Bottle. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his wife of 61 years; three children, Pat Buddin (Tony) of Sumter, Roy B. Hudson Jr. (Michele) of Blythewood and Candace Durham (Randy) of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Kyndal Moore (the Rev. Chris M. Moore), William Mullen (Avery), Taelor Hudson, Tohri Hudson, Brandon Hudson, Jayden Catoe and Brycen Catoe; seven step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Kaytlin, Caleb and Chandler Moore, and Collin and Hudson Mullen; seven step-great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Fred Hudson (Jeanette), Tommy Hudson (Ruth Ann) and Clyde Hudson (Alice), all of Sumter; a sister, Evelyn Phillips (Winston) of Sumter; and a sister-in-law, Diana Hudson of Sumter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Hudson and Frank Hudson; and a sister, Dewlene Hudson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Bible Fellowship Church with the Rev. Chris M. Moore officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be George Mullen, Al Benenhaley, Ricky Richards, Timmy Buddin, Paul Wilkie, Frankie Hudson, Tony Floyd and Paul Capell. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
