Posted Thursday, January 3, 2019 6:00 am William Karl "Billy" Newman Sr., 60, husband of the late Sherry Wadford Newman, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at his home. Born on March 5, 1958, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Clyde Frederick Newman and Betty Newman Welch. He was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two children, Heather Newman Adkins (Jessie) and Karl Newman Jr. (Katie), both of Sumter; seven grandchildren, J.J. Adkins, Hayden Adkins, Jordan Adkins, Hayeslee Adkins, D.J. Adkins, McKenzie Newman and Evie Newman; two sisters, Nancy Newman Buenting (John) of Charleston and Beth Newman of Sumter; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Concord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dearld Sterling officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Concord Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home of his daughter, 340 Wendemere Drive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, c/o Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
