Geddings Ruth Windham Geddings, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at NHC Healthcare in Sumter. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Estelle Nesbitt Windham. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended Wedgefield Baptist Church. She was the manager of the shoe department at Coker's Department Store and was also employed at Brody's on Main and Pioneer Dress Co. Survivors include a son, Don Geddings (Sharon) of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Linda Johnston (Tommy) of Sumter; six grandchildren, Lauren Geddings, Tracy Schillinger (Marty), Thomas A. "Bubba" Johnston III (Kim), Lisa Huskey (Loy), Michael Geddings (Angie) and Patti Zubritski; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Geddings Jr.; four brothers; and a sister. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Goff and the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Wedgefield Baptist Church and other times at 601 Cardinal St. Mrs. Geddings' family would like to say, "Thank you!" to Dr. and Mrs. Phil Brandt for their many years of love and care. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 107 E. Liberty St., Sumter, SC 29150 or to Wedgefield Baptist Church, P.O. Box 265, Wedgefield, SC 29168.
