MANNING – Mr. Leroy Tidwell, 68, husband of Linda Lowder Tidwell, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late James Roland Tidwell and the late Janie Outlaw Tidwell. Mr. Tidwell attended Green Acres Assembly of God Church and the Paxville Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Shaw Air Force Base Civil Service. He was founder of Country Cured Meats and Tidwell Landscaping and Plumbing Co. He was first married to the late Jean S. Tidwell. Surviving are his wife of Manning; two sons, R.L. Tidwell Jr. and James C. Osborne, both of Sumter; two daughters, Susan E. Tidwell and Brenda T. Long, both of Sumter; a brother, Eugene Tidwell of Lexington; three sisters, Lorine Broadway of Manning, Eula Walker of Sumter and Jennie Farmer of Covington, Ga.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Allen Alsbrooks of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Ken Alsbrooks of Deland, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Sheila Platt and Sharon Moore, both of Manning; six step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Donnie Collins and the Rev. Eugene Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home, 1322 Ginger Trail in Manning and at the home of his daughter, 785 Lakewood Drive in Sumter.
