PAXVILLE – Louie Elmer Ardis, 81, husband of Carrie Lee Scott Ardis, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born October 8, 1934, in Pinewood, he was a son of the late Henry Cornelius Ardis and the late Eva Ardis Ardis. He was a retired technical sergeant with the US Air Force and he was a member of Pinewood Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Paxville; two sons, Barry Wendell Ardis and Byron Alan Ardis, both of Paxville; two daughters, Gretchen Ann Ardis Davis (Norman) and Laura Leigh Ardis Griffin (Eric), both of Sumter; six grandchildren, Amanda Lovell Lecheler, Tammie Leigh Davis, Richard Alan “Ricky” Ardis, Brittany Marie Ardis Waynick, Kelsey Lynn Ardis and Hayden Brooks Griffin; six great grandchildren; a brother, Willis Ardis (Barbara); a sister-in-law, Betty Ardis, both of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Laurie Tobias; and six brothers, Leslie Ardis, Marion “Mack” Ardis, Russell Ardis, William “Bill” Ardis, Wilbur Ardis and Melvin Ardis. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson and Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating. Burial will follow in the Paxville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade McLeod, Eddie Scott, Wallace “Bubba” Hennies, Mike Ardis, Stan Ardis and Wendell Ardis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 10263 Scott Avenue, Highway 15 South, Paxville.
