| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Amy Hudson Amy Arleen Gardner Hudson, age 64, beloved wife of Richard Whitfield Hudson Jr., died on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Hudson was born July 25, 1948, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Dorothy Hobbs Gardner. She worked at Piggly Wiggly in the deli department. She loved cooking, especially baking, and her main hobby was her grandchildren. She loved her dog, Bailey. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hudson is survived by two daughters, Dorie Schwartz and her husband, Kenny, of Dallas, Texas, and Mellissa Clanin of Helen, Ga.; two stepsons, Michael Hudson and his wife, Tracy, of Lancaster and Joseph Hudson and his wife, Shannon, of Sumter; one stepdaughter, Tracy Strickland and her husband, Brett, of Sumter; two brothers, Jack Gardner of Columbia and Gerald Gardner of Sumter; three sisters, Mary Baker, Betsy Grenville and Mamie Perry, all of Sumter; and 11 grandchildren, Chany Way, Brayden Clanin, Abby and Evan Schwartz, Sara Grace and Sally Hudson, Josh, Noah and Lesley Strickland, and Santanna and Kadence Hudson. Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Gardner and Brenda Avin. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard W. Hudson Sr. officiating. Internment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at Bullock Funeral Home.
