JOHN M. BERRY John Milton "Mickey" Berry, beloved husband of 50 years to Mottie Jeanette "Jan" Touchberry Berry, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. He was born a son of the late Earl and Lib Berry. He retired after 30 years from Santee Print and briefly worked for Brunswick Corp. Mickey was known for his ability to always walk in and out of a room usually leaving people rolling on the floor laughing. He loved golfing, bowling, shooting pool and taking care of peoples' pools. He will always be remembered for his "golden" heart because he found a way to share his generosity and love with everyone he ever met. But mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Kellie Berry Patel and her husband, Alok, and Elizabeth "Beth" Berry Foxworth and her husband, Bill; one brother, Earl P. Berry Jr.; one sister, Peggy Berry Mathis; 10 grandchildren, Kenny Thigpen and his wife, Stacy, Stacy Marsh and her husband, Ryan, Nikki Evans and her partner, Chris Lighthill, Shane, Brook Foxworth, Amber Foxworth, Lance Foxworth, Dylan Berry, Bryce Foxworth and Emily Patel; seven great-grandchildren, Jaiden Connor, Harmony Thigpen, Kole Connor, Gracie Evans, Brelynn Connor, Cameron Thigpen and Dylan Evans; four godchildren, Laurie Estes, Amy, Morgan and Brie; two special friends, Ray and Ann Alberson; and two special buddies, Bandit and Bogey. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Edward Berry; and one brother, Gerald "Jerry" Glenn Berry. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clay Smith, Jock Hendricks and the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Dodson, Bobby Touchberry, Dean Quesenberry, Rick Thigpen, Steve Berry, Walter Tucker and Jimmy McLeod. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Dodson, Bobby Powell, Mike Nesbitt and nephews and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bullock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to offset medical expenses to Jan Berry at The National Bank of South Carolina.
