Her last afternoon was spent sharing her joy of gardening through a talk that she made to a garden club in Camden. She was a former member of the board of trustees at Brookgreen and Kalmia gardens. ¶ Being the wife of a Clemson University alumnus and trustee, she had a lifelong passion for the university and its many facets. She spent many Saturday afternoons sitting in the stands at Death Valley and the entire Clemson family knew and loved her. ¶ She was a past trustee of Epworth Children’s Home, Columbia, South Carolina. ¶ She had an avid interest in many areas, having been a charter member of the Bishopville Book Club, a past member of the Bishopville Junior Welfare League, a former member of the Iris Garden Club,, and a member of her bridge club for 60 years. ¶ After graduating from Winthrop College, she came to Bishopville to be librarian at the high school, where she also coached basketball.
