CARTER Posted Thursday, July 21, 2016 6:00 am MANNING - Henry Cecil Carter, 71, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at McLeod Health Clarendon. Born on Nov. 8, 1944, he was a son of the late Jessie Weston Carter Sr. and Mamie Elease Griffin Carter. He loved life, especially spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He attended Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a 1963 graduate of Manning High School. He was a retired postmaster of the Alcolu Post Office and worked with the postal service in Manning. He enjoyed gospel singing, golf and Clemson sports. He is survived by two sons, Cecil Jefferson "Jeff" Carter (Tina) and Joseph Wayne "Joey" Carter (Laura), all of Manning; and four grandchildren, Hunter King Carter, Kali Irene Carter, Bailey Wayne Carter and Robert Henry "Rory" Carter. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman R. Carter, Jessie W. Carter Jr. and Thomas R. Carter; and four sisters, Gertrude C. Rowe, Barbara C. Roberson, Beverly Ann C. Coleman and Linda C. Craft. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Manning Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pat Roberson, Carter Roberson, Jay Carter, R.H. Carter, Tim Nelson and Jody Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Carter, Randall Cutter, Rocky Walters, Pete Cales, Steve Boersema and Todd Hodge. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Jeff Carter.
