Born in Mayesville, she was a daughter of the late Fleetwood Jennings Bass and Lois Terry Bass. Mrs. Shaw was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the Women of the Church. She was also a member of the Sumter Art Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Dames of the Court of Honor. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught school in Gastonia, N.C., prior to moving to Sumter. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Catharine Williams and her husband, Dr. Barney L. Williams; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Outlaw Shaw, all of Sumter; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. John W. Shaw III. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Sumter Cemetery with Dr. Mark Durrett and the Rev. Mike McGehee officiating. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Women of the Church, 9 W.
