MITCHUM Posted Thursday, October 28, 2021 6:00 am Wilton D. Mitchum, 88, wife of William J. Mitchum Sr., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at her home. Born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Pinewood, she was a daughter of the late Richard McKibbin "Kib" Davis and Madgie Ardis Davis. Survivors include three children, Beverly Newman (Paul), Robert L. Wheeler and Billy Wheeler (Suzanne); seven grandchildren, Paul, Allison, Tabitha, Rebekah, Lacy, Bill and Cheyanne; and 14 great-grandchildren, Kib, John, Brodie, Blandyn, Trevor, Taylor Grace, Kyle, Kinsley, Kolton, Keels, Kipton, Kenleigh, Kelly and Bo. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William L. "Bill" Wheeler Jr.; and siblings, Addie Oliver, Flossie Thigpen, Mary Bartlette, Mable Anderson and Richard M. Davis. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Eugene Mosier officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the home of Beverly and Paul Newman, 1900 Gaymon Road. Memorials may be made to the Zoar Community Cemetery, c/o Beverly Newman, 1900 Gaymon Road, Sumter, SC 29153. MARY BARTLETTE Posted: Thursday, August 28, 2014 6:00 am Mary Edora Davis Bartlette, 88, widow of Ervin Phillips Bartlette, died on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at her home. Born in Pinewood, she was a daughter of the late Richard M. "Kib" and Madge Mae Ardis Davis. Mrs. Bartlette attended Southside Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and also enjoyed crochet and embroidery. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers, but her greatest love was spending time with and taking care of her family. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Copeland (Josey) of Bishopville, and Mary Stewart (Robert), Susan Parnell (Phil) and Phyllis Buckner (Pat), all of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Adam Stewart, Chris Stewart, Amanda Roupe, Matthew J. Wilkie Jr., Ariel Wilkie, Phillip Wilkie, Courtney Buckner, Jeremy Buckner and Ferris B. Fender; one great-granddaughter, Abygail Roupe; one sister, Wil Wheeler Mitchum (Jack) of Summerton; and a number of special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Davis and Richard M. Davis Jr.; three sisters, Addie Oliver, Mabel Davis and Wilma Davis; a grandson, Shawn Stewart; and a granddaughter-in-law, Brittany Stewart. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Morris and the Rev. Al Sims officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Wheeler, Pete Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Ricky Davis, Bill Davis, Adam Stewart, the Rev. Patrick Belkin and Paul Newman Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Strat Stavrou, Dr. Usah Lilavivat, Dr. Tepsiri Chong, Dr. Natsurang Chong and the staff of Tuomey Hospice.
