JULIA C. McELVEEN
Julia Renee Callen McElveen, age 51, beloved wife of 33 years to Ray Tillman McElveen, died on Monday, May 25, 2009, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Sumter, a daughter of the late William Henry Callen and Julia Grover Callen. She was a homemaker and loved to crochet, cross stitch and work in her garden. She attended the Faith Outreach Assembly Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Dustin Tillman McElveen and his wife, Dawn, of Sumter; a brother, Michael "Mike" Callen and his wife, Lesa, of Sumter; a brother-in-law, Johnny L. McElveen of Sumter; two sisters, Sandra Callen Gower and her husband, Richard, of Raleigh, N.C., and Christine Callen Hall and her husband, Cory, of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Patricia Byrd of Sumter; and two grandchildren, Devin McElveen and Caitlyn McElveen.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Betty Gainey and the Rev. Albert Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home.
