| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina MARTHA VERMELLE FISHER Posted Friday, October 15, 2021 6:00 am Martha Vermelle Fisher, 82, widow of James L. Fisher Sr., died on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at Palmetto Heart Hospital in Columbia. Born on Nov. 15, 1938, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Wallace Hartwell Marshall and Juanita Hodge Marshall Shade. She retired as the manager of the Beacon Theater and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church at Oswego. Survivors include three children, James L. "Jamie" Fisher Jr. (Pam) of Sumter, Lori Dunlap-Barwick (Charlie) of Manning and Kevin M. Fisher of Sumter; four grandchildren, Patrick Fisher, Amanda Neilson (R.J.), D.J. Dunlap (Meghan) and Teresa L. Dunlap; nine great-grandchildren, A.J., Bella, Kaelyn, Warren, Raven, Ryleigh, Savannah, Alexis and Summer; a sister, Marena Spann (Johnny) of Sumter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Roy Wallace "Buddy" Fisher; and three sisters, Sara Ellen Stafford, Linda Bradham and Betty Jean Marshall. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Allan Glass officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association - USA National Office, 161 N.
