of Gable, South Carolina David Campbell Floyd, 41, of Gable, died at 10:35 p.m. Friday from trauma due to a motor vehicle accident, said Clarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels on Saturday. South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson said Floyd was driving a 2001 four-door Ford pickup northbound on Plowden Mill Road, 8.1 miles north of Manning, in a 55 mph zone when the wreck occurred. Floyd lost control of the vehicle and drove off the right shoulder, overcorrected to the left, crossed over the southbound lane, went off the road and overturned several times. “The driver was fully ejected, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene,” Samuel said, noting weather conditions were clear at the time. Floyd was not wearing a seatbelt, Samuels said, adding the collision is still under investigation and toxicology tests are still pending. [1, 4] |
