NIXON Pearline Peterson Nixon, 86, widow of Evangelist Earnest Nixon, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville. She was born June 29, 1924, in Sumter, a daughter of the late John and Maggie Williams Peterson. She graduated from Morris College High School and graduated with a bachelor of science in education degree fom Morris College in 1947. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Goodwill Presbyterian Church. She taught in Clarendon and Sumter counties and in Senderville, Ga. Survivors are one sister, Evelina Peterson Farmer of Sumter; a special niece, Esther Marie Farmer-Judon of Sumter; and 19 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwill Presbyterian Church cemetery, Mayesville, with Dr. Ella F. Busby, pastor, officiating. The family is receiving friends at the home of her sister, Evelina P. Farmer, 42 Reese St., Sumter. Online memorials may be sent to samuelsfuneralhome.com.
