WEYMOUTH Posted Sunday, December 16, 2018 6:00 am Ronald Howard Weymouth, age 77, beloved husband of 24 years to Linda Weymouth, died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at the Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Born in Wenatchee, Washington, he was a son of the late Alvin and Edna Weymouth. Ron served 22 years in the United States Army and retired as a sergeant first class. He completed four tours in Vietnam during his service. After his military career, he went on to work in Civil Service at Shaw Air Force Base, retiring after 20 years of loyal service. He also worked for many years at C.A. Harler Trophy Shop in Sumter. He was a member and former exalted ruler of Sumter Elks Lodge No. 855. He was a former commander of VFW Post 3034. Ron enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was neighborly and sociable and enjoyed talking to people. He never met a stranger. He loved his family and will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving in addition to his wife of 24 years are four children, Troy Weymouth of Simpsonville, Laura Gaines and her husband, Jason, of Belton, Carol Nesbitt and her husband, Dan, of Sumter and Maria Jackson of Sumter; one sister, Rosalie Waybright and her husband, Bud, of Spokane, Washington; seven grandchildren, Andrew and Evan Overton, Alex and Lauren Nesbitt, Ryan Driggers, Justin McQueen and Matthew Burch; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Ashba officiating. Interment with full military honors will take place at noon at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
