Finley Sr., died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Jim Henry Compton and the late Clara H. Compton. Finley was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include three children, Martha Prosser (Ron) of Manning and Shirley Crawford and Fred L. Finley Jr., both of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Leslie Sanders, Dell Mathis, Missie Thompson, Brittany Porter, Michelle Vohs, Krissie Gregory, Alicia Legg, Fred L. "Trey" Finley III and Casey Evans; two step-grandchildren, Ronnie Prosser and Tammy Baxley; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Warren Compton of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda F. Mathis; three sisters; and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at at 11 a.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Sedgwick officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trey Finley, D.J. Mathis, Dell Mathis, David Boyd, Jason Capell, Bryan Prosser, Nate Legg, and Ronnie Prosser. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Columbia, SC 29201, the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Ave. North, Suite 101 Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, or to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Dr., Kittrell Center, Suite 110 Columbia, SC 29204.
