He was one of South Carolina’s pioneer peach growers. He was a former director of the South Carolina Peach Growers Council. He was a trustee of the Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton, a former moderator of Harmony Presbytery, a former board member of the South Carolina Forestry Commission, and a former member of the Clemson University Alumni Board.
