BROCK Lou Ella Hyatt Brock, 83, widow of Roscoe Thomas Brock, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Palmetto Health Baptist in Columbia. Born in Goldsboro, N.C., she was a daughter of the late William K. and Minnie Ella Hyatt. She was a very caring, stay-at-home mom. Surviving are three daughters, Linda J. Amerson and Evelyn M. McCavour, both of Sumter, and Sharon Kay Steeber (Doug) of Asheville, N.C.; two sons, Ricky Thomas Brock Sr. of Lancaster and Steven Glen Brock of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Elaine Brock Tripp, Debra Margaret Brock and Cathy Anne Brock; a son, William Kelly Brock; three sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Collins officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bryan Amerson, Timothy Mitchell Amerson, Carl Victor Amerson Jr., Doug Steeber, Phillip Ryan Parsons and Joey Lynn Amerson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 1420 Mooneyham Road.
