| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina CAMILLA BRADFORD WRIGHT Posted Friday, July 1, 2022 6:00 am Camilla Bradford Wright, 99, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Covenant Place. Born on July 17, 1922, in Sumter, she was a daughter of Alfred Lucius Bradford and Claudia Benbow Bradford. After graduating from Sumter High School, Camilla attended both Winthrop College and the University of South Carolina. She also received a degree in medical technology from Duke University. Camilla worked as a laboratory technician at Tuomey Hospital for many years, before her retirement. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and pursuing her favorite hobbies: reading, painting, fishing and ceramics. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Simeon Pinckney Wright; her daughter, Camilla Brown; and her sons-in-law, John Brown and John Thomas III. She is survived by her children, Sim Wright Jr. (Cheryl) of Greer, Claudia Thomas of Charleston and Dumont Wright (Ruth Ann) of Columbia; grandchildren, Bradford Wright (Taryn), Nikki Thomas, John Ivey Brown (Beth), Michael Thomas, Megan Wright Morris (Dan), Lauren Wright and Erin Wright Wolfe (Nathan); and great-grandchildren, Cameron Wright, Dalton Wright, Willa Thomas-Hicks, Benjamin Morris, Bradford Brown, Wright Morris and Amelia Anne Brown. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Brearley officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Burial will be private in Sumter Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Thornwell Home for Children, 302 S.
