DAVID LEE TODD Sr.
David Lee Todd Sr., 74, of 2188 Kingsbury Road, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009, at his home.
A native of Buncombe County, he moved to Sumter in 1973 following his retirement from the military. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force, following 21 years of service, and was a retired letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Todd was the son of the late David Odell and Margaret Elizabeth Johnston Todd. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Hensley Todd Hodge; and a brother, William Todd.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Shorter Todd; daughter, Zondra Todd Scott and husband, Stuart; son, David Lee Todd Jr. and wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Christa Goldstein and husband, Travis, Marc Scott, Brian Todd and Matthew Todd; sisters, Mary Alice Buckner and husband, Tom, Nancy Vinson and husband, Jim, Carolyn Young and Judy Steffey and husband, Bruce; sister-in-law, Helen Todd; brother, Donald Todd and wife, Susan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Stuart Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
