Born on May 19, 1985, in Midland, Texas, he was a son of Linda Weatherly Wellman of Sumter and the late Michael Leon Wellman of Ozona, Texas, and stepson of Roger Ray Reed (Dad); and stepmother, Gena Boyle Reed. Survivors in addition to his mother and stepparents, all of Sumter, include his son, Matthew Leland Wellman (fiancйe Catherine Shirley Whiteley); two grandchildren, Abigail Kate Wellman and Jordan Ray Wellman; two brothers, Joshua Ray Reed (LeAnn) and Christopher Smith; two sisters, Cassandra Reed Turner (Josh) and Lacy Vestal; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Bill and Betty Weatherly of Sumter; paternal grandparents, Peggy Wellman and Hank Wellman of Ozona; godmother, Robin Truett; and nanny, Rudene Truett of Sumter. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the VFW Post 3034, 1925 Gion St., Sumter, SC 29150.
