FROM STAFF REPORTS Sumter native Beth Boyle was recently named the director of alumni relations and annual giving at Charleston Southern University. She will be responsible for events and strategic communications that foster deeper relationships between the university and its alumni, current students and parents. She will also manage annual giving fundraising programs. Boyle graduated from the school with a major in communications in 2008 and has served in the athletics department at the university. She resides in Summerville. Mary Elizabeth Boyle of Sumter and James Walter Myers of Jacksonville, Fla., were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Foster Boyle Sr. of Sumter, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Janet B. Vinson of Conway and the late Kenneth Hayes Vinson, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rowland Boyle Jr., and the late Robert Herman Brinkley. She graduated from Sumter High School and Charleston Southern University with a bachelor of arts in communication. She is employed as director of alumni relations and annual giving at Charleston Southern University. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Woodrow Myers Jr. of Jacksonville, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Edward McLanahan of Jacksonville, the late Mrs. Jacqueline McLanahan, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Woodrow Myers Sr. He graduated from Episcopal School of Jacksonville and Charleston Southern University with a bachelor of arts in communication. He is employed as head football coach and teacher at Coastal Christian Preparatory School in Mount Pleasant. The Rev. Daniel F. Barber officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Teresa Radford, organist. Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, lace bodice, cap sleeves and a full A-line taffeta skirt accented by a pleated band and chapel-length train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangea, peonies, roses and miniature calla lilies. Mrs. Yvonne Arnold Livingood served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Tara Walsh Dodds, Mrs. Catherine Alice Drake, Kathleen Hope Flickinger, Jacqueline Doyle Harper, Alexandria Nicole Lewis, Lauren Jessica Myers, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Ellen James Peek. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Joseph Foster Boyle Jr., brother of the bride, Justin Alexander Bragg, Charles David Byars, Caleb Keith Clark, John Joseph DeBiase III, Brian McMillian Hulsey and Frederick Monroe Howell IV. Vinson Cole Barnhardt, nephew of the bride, served as banner bearer. The bride's parents held the reception at The O'Donnell House. The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at The Main Room.
