Born on May 21, 1957, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Sherrill Clyde Coker and Mary Lee Thigpen Coker. He retired from Becton-Dickinson after 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing, golf and, most of all, spending time with his family. Survivors in addition to his wife of 28 years include four children, Kimberly Gail White (Chris) of Sumter, Kerri Coker Lavender (Edward) of New Zion, Adrienne Candice Nicole Coker of Sumter and Kenneth Michael Andrew Coker (Brittani) of Sumter; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Timothy Wayne Coker (Elaine) of Stuart, Virginia, Mitchell Andrew Coker of Bishopville and Chadwick Shay Coker (Christina) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Clyde Chan and Kelly Sparrow officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Hill, Eddie Jackson, Glen McCloud, Kevin Avin, Leroy Washington and Wayne Gainey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
