SEA ISLAND, Ga. - Ann Miller Welch and Robert Berry Garris were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at the Cloister Chapel. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stanley Welch of Sumter, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Wallie Bernard Jones Jr. of Sumter and the late Wallie Bernard Jones Jr. of Pinewood and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Doyle Welch of Sumter. She graduated from Wilson Hall School and Clemson University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science. She is a third-year law student at Charleston School of Law. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Calhoun Garris of Columbia, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henry Richardson of Pendleton and Mr. and Mrs. Scenus Berry Garris of Andrews. A graduate of Richland Northeast High School, he graduated summa cum laude from Wofford College with a bachelor of science and a bachelor of arts in mathematics and chemistry and received a doctorate of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina and practices with the Pee Dee Radiology Group, P.A. The Rev. Daniel S. Burbage officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Jill Taylor Jones, vocalist; Mrs. Ann Rodgers Tomlinson Chandler, pianist; David Paul, violinist; and Ernie Ealum, cellist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless, ruched, fit-and-flare gown of Thai silk accompanied by a chapel-mantilla veil with alencon lace trim. She carried a bouquet of white roses and hydrangeas. Kathleen Jones Welch, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor, with Mrs. Elizabeth Welch Klosterman, sister of the bride, as matron of honor. Mrs. Sally Sue Garris Brown, sister of the bridegroom, served as bridesmaid, with Sarah Campbell Brown, niece of the bridegroom, as the flower girl. Dr. Brandon Eric Brown, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, served as best man. Bryan Hambly Klosterman, brother-in-law of the bride, served as a groomsman. Mrs. Rachel Jones Brown and Ashley Corinne Carroll also participated in the ceremony. The rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom's parents at Halyard's On the Creek, St. Simon's Island. The reception was given by the bride's parents at The Cloister Beach Club. Following a wedding trip to Sea Island and Disney World, the couple will reside in Florence.
