| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina at death- she had 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren ALETHA L. JACKSON Aletha Lewis Jackson, 94, widow of Herbert J. Jackson, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at a local nursing facility. Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie T. and Lula Graham Lewis. Mrs. Jackson was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Jackson's Curb Market on West Liberty Street. She later managed the MaDon Washerette on Broad Street. Survivors include a son, Hubert A. "Bubba" Jackson (Joyce) of West Columbia; a daughter, Dorothy J. Boykin of Sumter; three grandchildren, Johnny Boykin (Nancy), Carolyn Parker and Cindy Bowman (Manny); five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Eva Moore of Lake City; and a very special family friend, Victoria Coker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Rivers and the Rev. Jerry Watson officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday and other times at the home of her daughter. Memorials may be made to New Salem Baptist Church: Building Fund, 2500 W. Oakland Ave., Sumter, SC 29154. The family would like to express a special thank you to Cherri Commander and Letecia Hobbs at NHC for their loving care and concern for Mrs. Jackson.
