She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Wofford College Parents’ Advisory Board, the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion Committee and the First Tuesday Lunch Bunch. She was also active in local, state and national politics. During World War II, she worked with the Army Corps of Engineers while Dr. Brooks was serving in Europe for three years. She enjoyed artistic pursuits and was an accomplished oil painter, needle worker and antiquarian. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed. She was married for 63 years. at death- she has a cousin, Jim Gentry of Jasper, Tennessee [1] |
