| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina DUNCAN 'BUDDY' CHRISTMAS Posted Saturday, March 5, 2022 6:00 am Duncan Dreyfus "Buddy" Christmas, 83, husband of Linda Ahtonen Christmas, died on Friday, March 4, 2022, at his home. Born on April 29, 1938, in Lee County, he was a son of the late Duncan Lee Christmas and Bessie Bramlett Christmas. He was a member of Southside Baptist and former member of New Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He retired from CSX Railroad and was the owner of CHI Gutters. He was a member of the Carolina Anglers Fishing Club and coached PARD baseball and church league softball for many years. Survivors include his wife of 61 years; four children, Ken Christmas (Mona), Robbie Christmas (Lynn), Pat Christmas and Brian Christmas, all of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Jessica Christmas, Kendall Aycock, Kayla Christmas, Clayton Christmas (Brooke), Cayce Griffin (Trent), Catie Christmas, Alyssa Neal (Branden), Josh Christmas and Ethan Christmas; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Runette Ward and Faye Shadoan (Pete), both of Sumter; and a brother, Thomas Christmas (Myrtle) of Sumter. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church cemetery near Bishopville. Pallbearers will be Clayton Christmas, Joshua Christmas, Ethan Christmas, Daniel Williams, Daniel Peebles, Brandon Neal, Myers Noyes, Austin Griffin and Hunter Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carolina Anglers Fishing Club. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
