| HIST | Date Published: November 17, 2008 LELA EDWARDS SUMMERTON -- Lela Amelia Tindal Edwards, 90, beloved wife of the late Albert Bowman Edwards, died on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at National Healthcare of Sumter. She was born in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late David Leslie Tidal, Sr. and Lela Norris Tindal. She graduated from Pinewood High School in 1935 and later received her teaching degree from Greenville Women's College, which later became Furman University. She formerly taught school at McCall, Walterboro, Manning, Round "O" and Manning Christian Academy. She was a member of the Summerton Baptist Church. Surviving are One brother, D. Leslie Tindal of Pinewood; One sister, Mrs. H.B. "Hennie" Rickenbaker and her husband Henry of Summerton; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Tindal Davis and Doris Tindal Cahill. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery of Pinewood with her nephew, the Rev. Chad Rickenbaker officiating. The family will receive friends at the Calvary Baptist Church, following the service. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1322 Leslie Tindal Road, Pinewood, SC 29125.
