He retired from the Rail Road and lived near Summerton on the "Old Home Place". He was born 19 November 1847 at Panola (near Summberton) SC and died and died 18 November 1971 in Manning, SC. He is buried in Monroe, Union County, North Carolina. I have access to the John James Holladay Family Bible that records his birth and death. Isabelle Brown isabellebrown@yahoo.com Hey Jackie, Sorry about that. James Paul "Crum" Holladay was born 7 December 1884 and died 18 November 1971. I remember him quite well. We never called him anything but Uncle Crum and people who knew him called him Crum. Several of his siblings had nicknames. Susan was Susie, Julia was Gyp (short for Gypsy Jane) John Henry was called Frost and my grandmother, Isabelle, was called Belle. Crum never married. He retired from the rail road and moved to the old home place. The house was put together with wooden pegs and had no indoor plumbing. He also couldn't drive. He had a hugh garden of all sorts of flowers and I seem to remember that he was always generous with them for weddings and things. Thanks for updating my family.
