  Obituary in The Item, 9 Apr 2000 read, HERBY G. PACK Manning-Herby Gene Pack, 47, husband of Juanita Shorter Pack, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at his home. Born Jan. 10, 1953, in Fort Benning, Ga., he was a son of Anna Maria Pack Hodge and the late Cecil Pack. He was a member of Providence Baptish Church and was a self-employed contractor. Survivors besides his wife and mother, both of Manning, include two sons, Shannon Pack and Adam Pack, both of Manning; two brothers, Arthur Pack and Tyron Hodge, both of Manning; and two grandchildren, Matthew Pack and Hailey Ehrhardt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Pack Jr. Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Providence Baptish Church, officiated by Dr. Harold Greene and the Revs. Donnie Collins and Kevin Cribb. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Shorter, Tony Shorter, Barney Shorter, Jamie Glasscock, Ricky McConnell and Ronnie Harrington. The family will receive friends at the home. Memorials may be made to Providence Baptish Church Building Fund, 2445 Old Manning Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
