Posted Saturday, July 23, 2022 6:00 am BISHOPVILLE - It is with deep sorrow that Joyce Driggers Bramlett announces the death of her beloved husband, Luther David Bramlett Sr., 83. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Lee County Animal Shelter or a charity of one's choice. Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Roy Sr. and Mary Logan Bramlett. Luther was a faithful member of Bishopville First Church of the Nazarene. He served his country in the National Guard for 12 years and was an honorary member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) of the United States. For 35 years, he served his community as a volunteer fireman with the Bishopville Fire Department and was honored as Fireman of the Year in 1993. He was elected to serve as a councilman for the Bishopville City Council and later was elected to serve as a councilman on the Lee County Council. He was employed as a captain of the Bishopville Fire Department and then worked as the superintendent over the Bishopville Public Works for 15 years. He was a member of the Bishopville Jaycees, where he received the Outstanding Jaycee Award in 1974. Luther was a loving husband, a devoted father and "Pop." He loved his community dearly and was a good friend to many. He enjoyed fishing and "tinkering" with cars, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joyce Driggers Bramlett of Bishopville; daughter, Renee (Steven) Terrell of Bishopville; son, David (Crystal) Bramlett of Summerton; grandchildren, Josh (Miranda), Madelyn (Brandon), Paul and Wade; great-grandchildren, Barrett, and Tinley Ann; brother, Jimmy (Paula) Bramlett of Florence; sisters, Betty Pigate of Aiken and Diann (GC) Hatchell of Timmonsville; sisters-in-law, Josey Bramlett of Darlington and Louise Bramlett of Darlington; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Bramlett Jr. and Ernest Bramlett; and a sister, Lottie Richardson. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers, nurses and physicians at McLeod Hospice for their care, love and support. [2, 4, 5] | |
