| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Ray-Dennis Julie Sims Ray and Richard Glenn Dennis Jr., both of Sumter, were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Joan Sims Ray and the late Charles Douglas Ray, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Susie Odom Sims and the late Ralph Maxwell Sims and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Ray, all of Sumter. She graduated from Columbia College Honors Program with a bachelor of arts in speech-language pathology and from the University of South Carolina with a master's in communication disorders. She is employed by Sumter School District as a speech-language pathologist at Shaw Heights Elementary School. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glenn Dennis Sr. of Blythewood, and the grandson of Fred Oscar Martin and the late Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Martin and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Leslie Dennis Jr., all of Columbia. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering. He is employed as a mechanical engineer by Continental Tire in Sumter. Pastor John Sorrells officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Teresa Harris, organist; Gaye Howard, pianist; Eliza Johnson, violinist; and Beth Ann Young, soloist. Escorted by her brother, Richard Lee Ray, the bride wore a custom designed princess style A-line candlelight satin and beaded and sequined Alencon lace gown featuring a scalloped neckline, three-quarter length sheer scalloped lace sleeves, a keyhole back, a satin sash that was adorned in the back with the bridegroom's grandmother's diamond brooch and a cathedral-length train. She also wore a custom made cathedral-length veil and carried a hand-tied bouquet of vendela roses, hydrangeas and freesia. Mary Melissa Hayes served as maid of honor, with Allison Moore Johnson as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Emily Benfield Cubbage, Christin McLeod Dutcher, Lee Anna Harding and Brittany Nicole McLeod. Reilly Grace Ray served as junior bridesmaid, with Mary Katherine Dutcher as flower girl. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Alan Eugene Banner, Ryan Scott Dutcher, Robert Lewis Jones Jr., William Albert Roof and Charles Vincent Wyman Jr. Walker Lane Craven served as ring bearer. Also participating were Hope Brown Alexander, Rachel Marie Caughman and Candice Hodges Parsley. The bride's mother held the reception at The O'Donnell House. The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at The O'Donnell House. Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple will reside in Sumter.
