SMITH Mary Elizabeth McCall Smith, 83, widow of Luther W. Smith Sr., died on Friday, April 6, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Daniel McCall and Eunice Estell McCall. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church at Springhill. She worked as a sales clerk for McClellan’s Five and Dime and later as a sales representative for Avon for 40 years. Surviving are three sons: Luther W. Smith Jr. and his wife Donna Jo, Warren Phil Smith and his wife Mary Fran, Dewayne Mark Smith and his wife Carla, all of Sumter; a daughter, Belinda Kelly, and her husband Mike, also of Sumter. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Dewayne Smith. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at St. John’s United Methodist Church at Springhill with the Rev. John Howle and the Rev. Graham Bochman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Hancock, Keith Schultz, Olin McLeod, Legrand Bradshaw, Todd Mayberry, and Jack McCall. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to the charity of one’s choice.
