RYLES Posted Wednesday, June 14, 2017 6:00 am Kathleen "Kat" Scott Ryles, 76, widow of Charles Ernest Ryles Sr., died peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the home of her daughter in North Richland Hills, Texas. Born on Aug. 7, 1940, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Ollie Clyde Scott Sr. and Fannie Preto Johnson Scott. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Gina Ryles of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kristi Berndt; daughter-in-law, Dawn Berndt of North Richland Hills; a sister, Judy Taylor (Buddy) of Sumter; and a brother, Glen Scott (Carlene) of Sumter. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. "Chuck" Ryles Jr.; brothers, O.C. Scott Jr. and Jerry Scott; and sisters, Frances Ard, Peggy Bean and Dorothy Ann Kightlinger. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Greg Harvell and John Benenhaley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chip Taylor, Kirby Brinson, Jordan Brinson, Logan Brinson, Taylor Brinson and Jimmy Nettles. Honorary pallbearer will be Riley Nettles. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Buddy and Judy Taylor.
