I really don’t understand all of this family. I would guess that a lot of the information is not in the correct place. jkh at death- he had 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren Well I am looking at Walter A. Dennis’ obituary on 9 Nov 1994. This information really is incorrect. I am going to do a whole new obituary for Walter but about half of the following children are listed for him. I am going to transfer them over to him. The children include Michael and David Lee Dennis of Sumter and 2 daughters, Mary Etta and Cindy Lynn Dennis of Sumter and a stepdaughter, Christy Phillips of Sumter (I won’t transfer Christy). jkh THOMAS TOBAR Jr. Thomas "Tommy" William Carpenter Tobar Jr., 63, husband of Hazel Dennis Tobar, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at the Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in York County, he was a son of the late Ernest Robert Carpenter and the late Margie Gordon Carpenter. Mr. Tobar was a retired self-employed roofer for 45 years. He was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; five daughters, Margie DeJesus of Alabama, Barbara Bowen of Lexington, Mary Etta Dennis and Cindy D. Fricker, both of Sumter, and Crystal Phillips (Tyrone) Hodge of Manning; five sons, Thomas M. (Bonnie) Carpenter and Fred (Donna) Carpenter, both of Lexington, Michael (Kathy) Dennis and David (Deborah) Dennis, both of Sumter, and David Tinow of Arizona; nine sisters, Kathy (Wayne) Beck, Sue (Randy) Timmons, Judy (David) Clark, Brenda (Eddie) Beasley, Violet (Donald Jones) Parnell, Sherry (Earl) Coulter, Darlene Overby and Angie (Danny) Hodge, all of Sumter, and Barbara (Mickey) Jordan of Pageland; four brothers, Albert (Cindy) Carpenter, Bill Carpenter and Robert Carpenter, all of Sumter, and Billy Carpenter of York; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three special dogs. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Magaw and Deborah Dennis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
