Alvin Kennedy, 57, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at his residence in Manning. Born Aug. 12, 1952, in Manning, he was a son of L. Kenneth Kennedy and the late Lois Corbett Kennedy. He worked for Moore Oil Co. in Manning, Suburban Propane in Sumter and was in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. He is survived by his father of Kingstree; two daughters, Kimberly Kennedy of Florence and Jessica Kennedy of Manning; a son, Joseph Kennedy of Manning; a sister, Fay Benton and special brother-in-law, Terry, of New Zion; a brother, Dale Kennedy and his wife, Tammy, of Memphis, Tenn.; special sister-in-law, Marilyn K. Bowling of Kingstree; and a very special friend, Irene W. Hardy of Turbeville. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Allen Kennedy. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Murray Gibbons officiating, followed by a visitation in the church fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be Johnny Corbett, Chris Kennedy, Jason Benton, Trey Brown, Lin Rainey and Greg Kennedy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning.
