Millsap DuBose, died to this life on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022. Mac, as he was lovingly called by his family and friends, was born on Dec. 21, 1919, in Sumter County, to Dora Colclough Richardson and Theodore Scott DuBose. He graduated from Clemson University in 1943 and subsequently served in the United States Army. He began his career as a farmer and later served Sumter County in numerous positions, until his retirement as county administrator. Mac was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his son, Don DuBose (Kathi), and his daughter, Mary Beth Amaker. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mayes DuBose (Randa Carole), Patricia DuBose, Dave DuBose (Pam), Lauren Neese (Wesley), Richard Amaker (Amanda), Rhodes Amaker (Nancy) and Belton Amaker (Claire); and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David Earle DuBose; a grandson, James Edward "Jamie" DuBose; and a son-in-law, Daniel "Chip" Amaker. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Elsie and James Jennings for their years of devoted care and service. A celebration of Mac's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Brian Peake and the Rev. Bob Brearley officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Sumter, 9 W.
