"Roddy" Henderson, departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born May 20, 1943, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late William and Viola Poole Geddings. Mrs. Henderson was co-owner of Yellow Cab Co. and was a retired beautician. She was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church. In loving memory of an incredibly loving wife and mother, whose beauty, strengths, unconditional heart, wisdom, and welcoming arms will never be forgotten. She was the greatest wife, mother, friend, and relative that we could have ever asked for, and will forever love. Her memory will be cherished by her devoted and caring husband, Roddy; four loving children, Gerard A. "Rod" Henderson (Tamara) of Sumter, John Ashley Henderson of Florence, Sonja Gwynn Henderson Campbell (Tommy) of Mississippi and Heather Michelle Henderson of Florence; and a stepdaughter, Gailian Henderson-Reedy of Charleston. She will also be missed by her nine precious grandchildren, William, Josh and Matt Henderson, all of Sumter, Kelsey and Kiefer Henderson, and Lee Campbell, all of Mississippi, Cameron Henderson of Sumter, and Christian Seale and Abbigale Henderson, both of Florence; an adorable great-grandchild, Gracin Henderson of Sumter; two brothers, William "Billy" Geddings and Pete Geddings, both of Sumter; a sister, June Geddings Durham of Sumter; three special sisters-in-law, Louise L. Henderson, Tara H. Conyers and Mary Lee Thompson; and two heartfelt friends, Annette Bridges and Patricia Eldridge. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Concord Baptist Church the Rev. Gene Mosier and the Rev. Tony Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Rod Henderson, 13 Coleman St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Kittrell Center, Suite 110, Columbia, SC 29204 or to the American Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Columbia, SC 29201.
